It began with the forging of the great rings...
Or
actually with the making of the three movies. When I was just a wee
Elfling, the Lord of the Rings movies came out in the theatres and from
the first moment of watching them I was absolutely captivated. I've
spent many hours daydreaming about middle-Earth but not only about the
realm itself, but also about things that I thought I was never going to
acchieve (but that I still wished I could!) – such as Noldor-armour
(including the Noldor-warrior-sword), attending a convention (and later
even being one of the hosts), seeing the man who has brought the books
on the screen (mabye also seeing the man who displayed my favourite
character ever) and speaking Elvish. On top of that – the one wish that I
thought I could never fulfill since the time of the Lord of the Rings
movie-premieres was over: actually attending a premiere in an
Elf-costume. I've never thought I would ever acchieve only one of these 'goals' as you will, for every single one of them seemed overwhelming, not doable or too pricy.

I
tried getting close to what I desired by using my photoshop-skills to
manipulate myself into wearing Noldor-attire and at some point I even
posted this – by that time already old edit – to Tumblr, commenting
something like: "I wish I had armour like this."
Now,
11 years after I got into the Tolkien fandom, I can proudly say, that I
have acchieved all of the dreams listed above. I started realizing when
I came home from RingCon last year – one special autograph in
my Elvish-notebook and a huge box that bore a Highelven Warrior-sword
leaning against the train window and being stared at by pass-by-Hobbits.
By that time I didn't even know that just one convention later I would
show up in full Noldor-inspired armour, host a workshop on Tengwar and
would be able to speak Sindarin/Noldorin good enough to translate names
without a dicctionairy, as well as understanding Elvish without
subtitles.
But that is not yet the end of dreams fulfilled, it was just the beginning...
I still carry the beautiful memories of the adventerous journey to England in my very soul, where some of my best friends and I joined to attend the The Bobbit - Battle of the Five armies premiere. It was a very spontaneous trip for all of us knew that this may be the last time we could be part of a Tolkien movie-premiere. One last time.
But this is not the time for a journey-report and not the post, for what I want to tell you by this article is the following:
No
matter what it is you dream of – no matter how impossible it seems that
you may reach it – never give up for the day may come where you realize
that you have mastered all the obstacles and acchieved what you once
thought was un-acchieveable. The only thing I did was stopping to be
intimidated by great tasks and - just do it, try your best and be proud
about what you do.
There are still many life-goals to work on left but I am already looking forward to cross them of my list too one day.
