My Katana and my week so far

Things I've somehow managed to cut myself with in the past week:
Paper
Hairdressing scissors
A printer
A sword
What is wrong with me...

It's been two very cold days and now I know why: on monday, when my uncle came over to fix something in the basement, he forgot switching the heating back on. I am sitting here, wrapped up in a blanket with some steaming tea (jasmine, one of my favourites), waiting for the house to regain it's warmth.

Long time no see you could say and oh how true. My holidays are still not over and my time is definitely well spent: studying mostly though, as  will have one big test right when uni starts again, but I also find a lot of time to meet up with friends to play about any type of game us nerds know and like; on sunday I've hat my MTG group over, I've had some "tabletop" (kinda?) adventures shortly after, as well as some trusty pc gaming to work on my motorical skills (that do come in handy with my driving, even my mother has to admit) and a wee bit of pen and paper.
Yesterday I even ended up super spontaneous ...well ... let us call it "Cosplay test", where I invaded my wardrobe to recreate a certain look from one of my favourite movies, did some makeup to look more like the actual character (so far I am allowed to do eye and lip makeup again and this is what I chose to use it for thehe) and then took a couple of pictures and little videos which you might end up seeing some time... *does mystifying handgestures* Hint: the character involves a Katana.

The Katana I own, is a weapon that has it's own tales to tell. It was a gift from my sister in spirit, who didn't even know how badly I wanted/needed one and it was used to check for possible burglars the first time when I was still at her place and heard a noise at night, and  abused for that purpose ever since. Oh the glorious adventured we had gone at together...
It also doubled as my elven sword as the elegant curve makes it look very wearable for a Noldor-warrior.

Such a soft spot for these kinds of swords! (And before somebody who feels smart feels like starting the infamous longsword vs. katana discussion again, please don't; I have heard enough of that on Tumblr by far)
And yesterday I also used it to perform a little bit of swordplay (which turned into quite the workout as I took my sweet time) whilst still in costume for both video/gif and test purposes. One time I was caught by my grandmother, who lives just next door, but she has seen too much to still be irritated my my random moments.

Something is telling me that I should get my hands on a woodden bokken if I want to truly develop some form of choreography with this sword, in order to get used to the curve.What I can see when I rewatch the short videclips is, that I have greatly improved on using both hands/switching hands ever since I started working with my home-made practise lightsabre (oh gosh can you believe I actually made one...?) We will see what I can come up with once I actually start putting something together rather than just imporivising along and making things up as I go. So much fun *giggles*

Now though, I can hear both my bed and the cat calling and I think this Elf here needs one last Les Miserables singing session with my black furred companion and then a lot of sleep!
