Welcome to the first blogpost of the year! I hope you've spent the night well - be it out celebrating, or at home eating, or sleeping through. Last year I had some martial arts friends over and we spent the night playing board games, watching movies and stretching, but this year was the first new year with my adopted furball, and because I didn't know how he would react to the noise that comes with the fireworks, I decided to stay home in case he would be scared and needed a lap to hide in.
Luckily my cat could not care less about the noise, but one can never know...
My aunt and grandmother live just nextdoor, so we decided to spend the evening together as we had done several new year's eves before - and I could easily check on little Guinness.Because I met up with my father for a last tea in the old year, I had the pleasure of visiting a supermarket, to loot something tasty for the cozy feast later on - the view was quite shocking:

Did I miss something? Is a workdwide shortage on drinks about to happen?
The remaining store didn't look any better - it was almost a wee bit creepy, shopping there...
However, I came across this gem and just had to bring it home:

As if I could ever say no to unicorn and fairy shaped noodles...
My family was also invited to a wee gathering at our new neighbours', which turned out to be very nice - such kind people with a grand taste in home-decorations - I had a final count of 14 pinecones! *giggles* I've known their house ever since I was wee, as it used to belong to an elderly lady that I would often visit and love like a third grandmother. Now, the entire interior has changed - but they did such a great job, it was beautiful to see how they kept the charms of the old house!
When the moon was out, we started with our evening programme: In summary I can say, that we spent the evening watching movies on tv (Pirates of the Carribbean was on show, as well as Mr. Bean - and I thing I haven't seen either of these in a long, long time. What a nostalgic feeling! *giggles*)

The table starts filling up with food...

Later on, plates were exchanged for sketchbooks, the savoury food for homemade cookies and the tea for even more tea - perfect!

It looks so magical! I could keep staring at this liquid metal for ever - reminds me of frost on the windows...
The finished product looked a wee bit like a burning match but I yet hve to ponder what it could mean....
Traditionally, I went to the nearby forest the next day, to look out for things like glass-shards (from broken bottles) and plastic pieces that could endanger the wildlife and remove it. I grew up in the spirit of not littering anywhere - and especially not in nature, but sadly quite some people apparendlty did not and you would be surprised, what kinds of things people think is alright to leave behind in a forest *angry Elfnoises*
I don't know exactly what is up with the people who would be in charge, but I know that if I don't remove it, no one will and it will just stay there and maybe injure or kill one of thee many animals living there. A few years ago around that time, there was a trail of a wounded deer, but because I lost the track, the only thing that could be done, was to call the rangers. It saddens me greatly to think that it might had to die because someone did not go through the little effort of taking their trash home *more angry Elfnoises*
But back to a lighter topic; something grand happened the first day of Jannuary: The drop of temperatures! I woke up to the realm being blessed with a sheer blanket of snow (something I had been predicting since the 29th, for I have two weather-sensitive former injuries).
Very sheer as you can see, but snow!!
The short way to the forest...

As you can tell, the woods did not want to let me go home thehe
Other than that, I spent my days drawing, tidying and one day even shopping (trip to IKEA was very much needed and I ended up stumbling across the msot epic bedsheets in a nearby shop (and finally they have been washed so that I could use them on instant!)

Ginni wanted to be in the picture^^

So here is the more detailed shot: All the xwings, tie-fighters, death stars and millenium falcons *squeals* so pretty! One is never too old for this...
What I did finf to be a wee but funny is, that these were the only "single" sheets - the other designs all came in a set of two -- apparently society still thinks nerds are forever alone kind of people *laughs* Don't listen to this, fellow nerds -- geeks are the best *winks* <3
And speaking of nerdy things - who else keeps their armour with their regular clothes?

Oh...it is starting to snow again as I am writing this - off to making some delicious tea to watch the flakes dance for a bit~
edit: the hairgame is very odd today .
